Serving Caviar - Storage and Enjoyment

Caviar is an indulgence that deserves the utmost care and attention to preserve its exquisite taste and texture. Follow our guidelines to ensure your caviar experience is truly exceptional.

  • Storage Temperature
    To maintain the freshness and quality of your caviar, it's crucial to store it at temperatures between 26-35°F (approximately -3 to 2°C). Your refrigerator is the ideal place for this, as it provides a controlled environment that keeps the caviar at its best.

  • Unopened Containers
    When your caviar container remains unopened, it can maintain its optimal condition for a period of 4-6 weeks. The key is to ensure the tin remains sealed, protecting the delicate eggs within.

  • Opened Containers
    Once you've opened the tin, your caviar will continue to delight your senses for 3-5 days. Monitoring its freshness is a sensory experience - rely on your sense of smell and observation of the eggs. Fresh caviar should maintain its characteristic aroma and appearance.

  • Guarding Against Air
    Air is the natural adversary of caviar, as it can compromise its pristine quality. For this reason, it's advisable to purchase caviar in smaller containers, enough for a single serving or seating. This way, you can fully enjoy your caviar without worrying about preserving the remaining portion.

  • Handling Leftover Caviar
    Should you find yourself with more caviar than initially served, follow these steps to keep it fresh:
    1. Gently spread the remaining caviar flat using a mother of pearl or plastic spoon, taking care not to damage the delicate eggs.
    2. Cover the caviar with plastic wrap, pressing it gently to eliminate any air space between the eggs.
